Engineering data from practicing engineers.
A design that ignores tolerances or units only looks right. We commission vetted mechanical engineers to create and grade the data engineering models learn from.
Mechanical engineering, with proof.
Engineering models still drop units halfway through a calculation, propose parts that cannot be manufactured, misread GD&T callouts, ignore a tolerance stack-up, or pick a material without considering fatigue or temperature. HUMXN commissions credential-checked mechanical engineers to write problems with worked solutions, annotate drawings, build CAD models and grade model reasoning, covering statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluids, machine design and manufacturing.
CAD models and drawings are sourced from consenting creators or made new for the request. Every item is fingerprinted at intake, including 3D shape fingerprints for models, and checked for duplicates, then reviewed by a second engineer. Label provenance records whether each label came from the author, a model suggestion or an expert reviewer. Deliveries include a signed receipt and audit trail, in the format your pipeline expects.
For mechanical engineers, this is paid, remote work in your own discipline. You write design problems, annotate drawings, model parts and grade a model's engineering reasoning, at a rate shown before you accept each job. Work fits around a full-time role or consulting practice, your identity is not published, and approved work is paid automatically through Stripe after identity and tax verification.
Built to your specification.
Every engagement starts from a written spec and a pilot batch. These are the most common requests we source for mechanical engineering.
Problems with worked solutions
Graduate and professional-level problems in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluids and machine design, solved step by step with units.
Annotated engineering drawings
Drawings labeled for dimensions, GD&T callouts, tolerances, materials and manufacturing notes.
CAD models
Parametric parts and assemblies built to a brief or sourced from consenting creators, with design intent documented.
Design review data
Engineers critique designs for manufacturability, failure modes and tolerance issues, with written rationales.
Step-level reasoning grades
Engineers mark each step of a model's solution for correct physics, assumptions, units and arithmetic.
Text-to-CAD evaluation
Prompts and reference models for systems that generate geometry, with criteria for fit, function and buildability.
01Units and assumptions
Engineering answers fail on unit conversions and unstated assumptions. Expert grading checks every step, not just the result.
02Buildable geometry
Generated parts often cannot be machined, molded or assembled. Engineers judge designs the way a shop would.
03Licensed CAD sources
Scraped CAD libraries carry unclear rights. Consent bound to each model and shape fingerprints keep sourcing traceable.
Paid work in your field.
Remote and flexible, with the rate stated before you accept. Every job is reviewed by a second expert, and approved work is paid automatically.
- A degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field
- Several years of design, analysis or manufacturing experience
- PE license, chartered status or a graduate degree, for advanced tasks
- Fluency in a major CAD package and GD&T
- Specialisms such as thermal systems, FEA, mechanisms or tooling
Write problems and solutions
Draft graduate-level engineering problems with worked solutions, units and stated assumptions.
Annotate drawings
Label dimensions, tolerances, GD&T and materials on engineering drawings to a written guide.
Model and review parts
Build CAD parts to a brief, or critique generated designs for manufacturability and function.
Review another engineer's work
Check a colleague's problems, labels or models as second reviewer before delivery.
Mechanical engineering: asked often.
What engineering data can you produce?
Problems with worked solutions, annotated drawings, CAD models and assemblies, design reviews, step-level grades of model reasoning and evaluation sets for text-to-CAD systems. Requests are scoped by subdiscipline and difficulty and matched to engineers verified in that area. CAD exports come in your preferred format, and text data as JSONL, Parquet or Croissant.
Where do the CAD models come from?
Either from consenting creators who hold the rights, with consent bound to each model, or built new by engineers for your request. Every model is fingerprinted at intake, including a 3D shape fingerprint, and checked against the dataset for duplicates and near-duplicates. Each carries signed provenance and appears on your delivery receipt.
Do I need a PE license to join?
Not for most work. A mechanical engineering degree and solid industry experience qualify you for many jobs. Some advanced tasks may ask for a PE license, chartered status or a graduate degree. Each job lists its requirements, and we verify your identity and credentials before you receive offers.
How do I get paid?
Rates are set by field and task and shown before you accept. When a second engineer approves your work, it is credited to your balance and paid automatically through Stripe after your identity and tax details are verified. Each job is itemized in your ledger.
How much time is required?
There is no minimum commitment. Opportunities arrive when they match your verified discipline, each with a stated scope and deadline, and you choose which to take. Work is fully remote, so it can fit around a full-time engineering role, subject to your employer's outside-work policies.
Can we license CAD data exclusively?
Yes. Commissioned models and problem sets can be licensed exclusively, with scope, term and exclusivity agreed in writing. Many teams begin with a pilot batch to agree on the modeling standard, then use a standing order to keep new parts arriving at the same bar.
