01What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. This policy refers to all of them as cookies.
02Our cookieless site measurement
We count visits on our own server without cookies or similar storage on your device. Instead of storing your IP address, we keep a hashed identifier that changes daily, so visitors cannot be followed across days. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
03Cookies we use
- Strictly necessary: a session cookie set only when you sign in to the members' dashboard. It keeps you signed in, is signed to prevent tampering, and expires after [30] days or when you sign out. It is not set for visitors to the public site.
- Analytics (optional): if enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<ID> to distinguish visitors and measure aggregate usage. These typically last up to [2 years]. Google Analytics is never loaded on private pages.
- Preferences: the site may remember choices such as your consent decision in your browser's local storage. [Confirm whether a preference or consent cookie is used.]
04Consent
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent because the service cannot work without them. Where the law requires it, including in the EEA and UK, we load Google Analytics only after you agree, and you can change your choice at any time. [Describe the consent banner or settings link once implemented.]
05How to control cookies
You can also control cookies through your browser: most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies in their settings. Blocking the members' session cookie will prevent you from signing in to the dashboard, but the public site will work normally.
Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
